Jeanne Fox is passionate about performing. You can find her playing solo, symphonic and chamber music throughout the Tri-State region. An avid Chamber Music performer, Jeanne founded and performs with the Hudson Valley String Quartet, and has previously performed with the Hudson Valley Piano Trio. Previously she was principal cello of the Hudson Opera Theater and the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra, and is a sub with the Hudson Valley Symphony Orchestra.
An extension of her passion for music is teaching and preparing young musicians to perform. Jeanne has been teaching cello since the early 1980's. She maintains a private class of cello students in Orange and Dutchess Counties in the Mid-Hudson Valley. She has previously taught at SUNY Dutchess Community College, New York University, Third Street Music School Settlement and United Nations International School. Jeanne enjoys playing different styles of music and was for many years cellist/bassist for the folk rock band Project Mercury (named Best New Band by Hudson Valley Magazine). She has also performed and/or recorded with bands such as ABC and Smokey Robinson, as well as with several local Hudson Valley artists including Michael Holmes and Elissa Jones.
She is originally from Ohio, where she studied with Marcia Kraus and Ralph Curry of the Cleveland Orchestra. She holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School, where she studied with Ardyth Alton. She did graduate work at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College where she studied with Martha Williams. Jeanne holds an Arts Administration certificate from New York University and a Suzuki Teaching Certificate from School for Strings where she studied with Nellis Delay and Louise Behrend. She has studied chamber music with Sungrai Sohn, the Juilliard String Quartet, Joseph and Lillian Fuchs, Arianna Bronne and Rafael Bronstein, as well as André Emelianoff.
Jeanne is also a film music consultant by day, working on productions for various cable networks and PBS, most recently on several PBS productions created by Dr Henry Lewis Gates. [Please see ... RESUME]
